EPF Commends Gov Okowa Over Minimum Wage Implementation

A social political pressure group, Elohim Political Forum has commended Delta state governor, Sen. Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa for the implementation of the minimum wage for civil servants in the state.

In a statement, the National coordinator of the group, Prince Emmanuel Omote said, “With the implementation of the minimum wage in Delta state, civil servants have to be steadfast and committed to their duties.

According to Omote, “Some states refused to pay this minimum wage but Okowa, being a God fearing man who know the plight of civil servants in country took it upon himself to implement the payment in this yuletide period.
Governor Okowa had approved the implementation of minimum wage that was signed into law by the Federal Government to take effect with the payment of December 2019 salaries to the state workers.

Okowa said, “The gesture was to boost the morale of workers in the state and as civil servants, you must rise to the challenges and reversed the ugly public perception by adhering to the core value of civil service.

“As civil servants, you must be efficient in service delivery, competent, honest, trustworthy because your integrity is at stake if you did violate the code and ethics of the civil service.”
Commending Gov Ifeanyi Okowa for the approval of the minimum wage payment, Prince Omote appeal to civil servants in the state to be law abiding and be dedicated to their duties.
“Civil servants should conduct themselves in a rightful manner, be faithful to their job, they should not abscond from duty, rather they should report to the higher authority anything that would make the state to grow.
Omote however lauds the gesture of the state governor over the recent statement through the Head of Service that civil servants whose appointment were suspended in 2015 would soon receive letters of recall.
“This is to show that Delta state government has the interest of civil servants at heart”. He said.
